5 Reasons Your Wife Needs To Go To Starbucks…Alone

Hey there guys! I want to speak to you for just a few minutes…it won’t take long, I promise. 😉

So, we know that you do so much for us! You work hard, are a fantastic daddy to our littles, help with fixing things around the house, and are the bestest child wranglers EVER!

We appreciate all that you do for our family, and how much love you give to us every day.

I want you to take a minute and think about your lovely wife. Think about everything she does for you, and your family. Let that sink in for a minute.

She cooks the meals, tries her best to keep up with the never-ending housework, runs the errands so that no one starves, changes diapers, potty trains, takes the kiddos to all of their activities…the list could go on forever.

She is pretty amazing right?!?

Now let me ask you another question. When is the last time you were alone?

Was it a few minutes ago when you were in your car? Or perhaps in your office at work? Did you enjoy a leisurely lunch, and were able to catch up on the latest events?

Would you like to know the last time your wife was alone? The day before she went into labor with your first child. Okay that may be a slight exaggeration, but trust me the alone moments are few and far between.

Your wife needs a serious BREAK, and you are just the person to help her get one! And because you are so awesome I know that you will happily do this.

So give mama a break, and help her get her Starbucks on…ALONE!

In case you are hesitating, and wondering why, here are 5 reasons:

She needs to rock out in her car!

Do you know the last time your wife got to just belt it out, and listen to whatever music she wanted to? Yep, neither does she. 😉

There are only so many nursery rhymes we can sing, sibling bickering that needs to be resolved, and snacks and sippy cups that can be tossed at our heads before we are seriously going to go cray cray!

Help us to have the opportunity to channel our inner Beyonce, and rock it like the fierce messy bun mamas that we are! Her soul will thank you.

She needs a breather!

There aren’t any real breaks in #Momhood. I mean seriously guys, they will find us…EV.ER.Y.TIME!

Bathroom? Nope they are in there with us. Shower? Laughable, my toddler just climbs in with me, and fully clothed I might add. Your wife may be able to sneak into the closet, but that will only last a few minutes at best.

We need a moment to just catch our breath, without having anyone asking  us for anything…other than our order of course! 😉

She needs her caffeine!

Guys, we have had a very long day and are beyond exhausted!

There is just something super special about those magical concoctions from Starbucks. I honestly believe they have special ingredients in their drinks that give us mommy superpowers.

It will help you!

This may sound a little crazy, but guys helping your wife to achieve fully caffeinated status alone will score you a ton of cool points!

I assure you, when she arrives back home, she will be recharged and refreshed. A teeny tiny vacay from being a mommy absolutely revitalizes us!

Assisting your wife with regular breaks will only strengthen your marriage! It’s a win win for everybody. 🙂

She deserves it!

She has been knee deep in poopy diapers all day. She has cleaned up the same room 27 times today. She has washed 15 cups, because children have yet to figure out that they can in fact reuse the same cup. She doesn’t even remember the last time she had a full on leisurely shower.

Guess what? She does this all day, everyday, and happily I might add. She does this because she loves you and your family, AND because she is AMAZING!

So guys, do yourself a favor. Once you get home, tell that woman you adore to get the heck out of dodge and go enjoy some Starbucks…alone!

She will absolutely adore you for it!

Do you love Starbucks as much as I do? What is your favorite magical concoction? Follow me on Instagram, and tag me with your Starbucks break!

The Best No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Are you looking for a quick, easy, and delicious pie recipe? I have got the perfect one!

This is the absolute BEST no bake peanut better pie…EVER!

It whips up super quick, and is amazingly delicious.

I have even added in a little chocolate…because really, what is peanut butter without some chocolate?!?

My husband absolutely devours this pie, so the kiddos and I decided to make it for Father’s Day!

This is a great pie recipe to make with the kiddos, and the whole family will love it!

So gather those ingredients, and let’s get started!

This post may contain affiliate links. Disclosure Policy.

The Best No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

To make the crust we need to get those cookies crushed.

My son likes to push the buttons on our blender, but if you are having a particularly stressful day, I highly recommend throwing those cookies in a Ziplock, and go to town wacking them with a rolling pin. 😉

The Best No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Now you will melt one of the sticks of butter, and mix it in with the crushed cookies. Add to your pie container, and press to make the crust.

I am absolutely loving this pie pan by Le Creuset!

The Best No Bake Peanut Butter Pie The Best No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Put the pie crust in the freezer for about 10-15 minutes for the crust to set.

Now it’s time to make the delicious filling!

The Best No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

You will add the peanut butter, powdered sugar, and 1 stick of softened butter to your stand mixer, or a large bowl if using a hand mixer.

Then, you will need to refrain from face planting directly into this bowl of amazing yumminess! 😉

The Best No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Spread the peanut butter mixture onto your pie crust, and place back in the freezer for another 10-15 minutes.

Now you can absolutely leave the pie just like this, and it is wonderful!

But, I like to take it to another level, and top it with some delicious melted chocolate!

The Best No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

There is a time and place for everything, but this mama has the perfect ‘don’t want to use a double boiler’ hack.

Take your milk, and zap it in the microwave until you see some good bubbles. Usually about 90 seconds.

Then add your chocolate, let it set about a minute, and stir.

The Best No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

See…no double boiler needed! You’re welcome! 😉

The Best No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Top the pie with the chocolate, and place in the fridge until you are ready to serve.

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as our family does. Be sure to get you a slice mama, because trust me…this pie doesn’t last long in our house!

This Mom’s Essentials For Backyard Summer Fun

During the summer months we spend a lot of time outdoors. Especially in our backyard.

I like to have plenty of games and fun for the kiddos to keep them from getting bored. When the kids are bored, no one is going to be happy!

It also gets incredibly hot where we live, as in living on the surface of the sun HOT! Staying cool while we play outside is a MUST!

So, me being me, I just have to share with you some of this mom’s essentials for backyard Summer fun!

This post may contain affiliate links. Read disclosure policy here.

This outdoor inflatable bowling set by Kleeger is a ton of fun!

This Mom's Backyard Finds For Summer Fun

Y’all this set is perfect for the whole family! Even the smallest of children have an absolute blast. And trust me, you will want to join in on the action too. 😉

If you have a swimming pool, or visit one close by, pool toys are a must! We are absolutely loving these Jellyfish Sinkers by Melissa and Doug.

This Mom's Backyard Finds For Summer Fun

These are perfect if you have younger swimmers, or a beginner swimmer. They are easy to spot, and they float down simulating an actual jellyfish!

Fun water play is a constant in our backyard. If you don’t have access to a pool, or even if you do, water guns are a sure fire winner!

This Mom's Backyard Finds For Summer Fun

This Nerf Super Soaker Breach Blaster is amazing! It is very easy to fill, and reaches long distances. The older kids, and maybe the adults too 😉 , have so much fun playing with these. These will definitely keep you cool!

I am in love with this trampoline waterpark attachment!

This Mom's Backyard Finds For Summer Fun

Tell me this doesn’t look like the most amazing thing ever?!? This mama would be jumping for days!

Have you seen the new craze with crochet water balloons? These things are fantastic!

They are reusable, and eco friendly. No more hassle with filling up those pesky water balloons, and zero clean up!

If you happen to crochet there is a great pattern by Left In Knots here. If you would prefer to purchase the balloons, you can find them in my shop. 🙂

Another favorite of ours, on those summer nights, is a backyard campfire. These Mystic Fire Colorant packs will turn your fire into a whole new thing!

This Mom's Backyard Finds For Summer Fun

These packs turn your fire into a rainbow of colors, and lasts for awhile. The kids will be amazed, and you will definitely be the talk of the neighborhood.

And while we are on the subject of campfires…can we just say S’mores?

This Mom's Backyard Finds For Summer Fun

These Marshmallow Roasting Sticks are perfect for little hands. They extend up to 34″, and come in 5 assorted colors in a pack. Perfect for keeping those ‘assigned’ skewers straight. 😉

Our youngest has a slight obsession with bubbles. When I feel like taking our bubble time to the ‘next level’, I go with mega bubbles.

This Mom's Backyard Essentials For Summer Fun

Aren’t these the BEST?!? The kids just love the mega bubbles…okay maybe I do too. You can get the big bubble mix and wand here.

Now pardon me while I get my trampoline water park on!

5 Ways To Keep Your Marriage Strong Through The Toddler Years

When you have children of any age, but in particular through the toddler years, how do you keep your marriage strong?

You know the scene. You are knee deep in poopy diapers, a mile long pile of laundry, the never ending list of errands, sippy cups leaking juice all over the floor, trying to maintain some semblance of order in your home…need I go on?

And, all of this is happening while said toddler is losing their mind in one of many full blown tantrums for the day.

Of course, all of this happens right when your husband walks in the door. You are so incredibly tired, and frustrated, and probably a little sweaty too. 😉

Your first inclination is to run away hand the kids to your husband, and say ‘you deal with it’.

In these hot mess express times how on Earth do you keep your marriage strong? I mean you are exhausted and overwhelmed, and I am fairly sure you are not feeling that this is your most attractive moment.

Embrace Your Partner

I know, I know…things are usually super crazy when he gets home, and you are probably in the middle of making dinner, BUT do it anyway.

Guess what? He may have had a rough day too.

No matter what is going on in our home, when my husband gets home we embrace. It just feels good to fall into his arms…even if one of the kiddos is screaming the entire time! 😉

Make The Time

Date nights can be incredibly difficult to manage. Especially if you move to a new town, and know zero babysitters! (I know all about this one.)

Even if you need to schedule an at home date night after the kiddos are asleep, DO IT!

It is incredibly important to put each other first, and solely focus on each other. Whether it be a nice meal alone, dancing all night, or watching a movie, you will be so glad you did it!

Talk To Each Other

This seems like an easy one, but there are some really long days with kids, a marriage can feel more like an assembly line than an actual relationship.

We can also find ourselves only talking about the kids. #Guilty

Find different things to talk about. Imagine you are back on one of your early dates, and were getting to know each other.

I know it sounds kind of silly, but it’s really important to continue to connect. If you are having trouble coming up with things to talk about, you can find some really fun conversation starter cards here.

Have Fun

It is so important to have fun! Many studies have shown that we actually think better, and are more creative when we are having fun.

Be silly! Have a tickle fest, pillow fight, play putt putt, go bowling, play a game. Whatever you decide just have fun!

Leave your worries behind, remember to breathe, and celebrate life together!

Don’t Stop Dreaming

This is a big one for me.

With the endless to do lists, over worked jobs, screaming kiddos, sometimes it feels like we are just in survival mode. But, don’t ever stop dreaming.

Where do you want to be in 5 years? What would your dream life look like? If money were no object what would you love to do?

Do you dream of traveling to an exotic place? Maybe you want to start your own business.

These are all super fun things to discuss with your partner, and you may learn something new along the way.

Dream together! You never know…one day those dreams may come true.

4 Things All Moms Should Be Wearing

We have all seen it…the LISTS. You know the ones? The lists that tell women, in particular moms, what they should no longer be wearing.

There was a recent list I read, ‘what women over 30 should never wear’, and honestly it just made me sad.

This list included items such as graphic tees (ain’t nobody taking my #MomLife tee from me!), and hoop earrings. What the what? Hoop earrings??? Seriously, a staple of my wardrobe.

So with all the lists telling us what not to wear, I thought it would be a nice idea to list some things I think all moms SHOULD be wearing, on the DAILY! 🙂

Mama you know how to wear a baby on your hip, hold a toddler’s hand, carry book bags and a purse, and clench that cup of coffee, all while walking to your car. #Fierce

You are responsible for raising these tiny humans into amazing people. EV.ER.Y.DAY

Yes, you may have stretch marks, have an added pooch that wasn’t there before, and bags for days under your eyes.  But let me tell you something, you have EARNED them. All of it is because you rock at being a mommy!

Work those aisles in Target like a runway, sashay that school pick up line #likeaboss, and know that you are amazingly beautiful just the way you are!

I feel very passionate about this fashion must!

We need to have grace for ourselves, others, and especially mommies.

If you’re having one of ‘those’ days, the ones where you question if you are doing anything right, and the kids are literally climbing the walls…wear grace.

When you see another woman who is on the verge of tears because the weight of the world is closing in…wear grace.

When you are at the store and you see a mommy whose children are running and screaming, and you can see that her head is about to explode (P.S. it’s probably me 😉 )…wear grace.

We are all in this together, and we need to show grace to one another. Never ever assume you know someone else’s journey.

No mom has it ALL together. No mom has an Instagram or Pinterest perfect life. We all need a little help, and a whole lot of grace.

This is the only actual fashion item on the list.

Seriously though, if you are a mom get you some flats! I am certainly not saying to never wear heels, it’s just that #MomLife will be a lot easier to manage in a good pair of flats.

It is incredibly difficult to chase a small child, balance groceries, and dodge sippy cups being hurled at you in every direction in heels.

Think like a ninja. Trust me, ninjas don’t wear heals! 😉

Whatever You Want

I think this goes without saying, but wear absolutely whatever you want!

You want to wear red lipstick? Go for it! Graphic tees with leggings are your jam? Rock on mama! You are more of a tee with a blazer kind of gal? Get it girl!

Here’s the thing…you are a grown woman who is fully capable of deciding what makes you comfortable.

Please don’t ever let one of those ‘lists’ make you feel less than you are. And definitely don’t let them make you throw out your most favorite, worn in, thread bare sweatpants or t-shirts EVER!

This Art Project Is A Must For Kids

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my Disclosure Policy for more details.

Summer Break is in full swing, and this mama is trying her best to beat the Summer boredom blues!

You may have read my post on our family’s Summer Bucket List. One of the things on the list that the kiddos really wanted to try was an art project to display in our Playroom.

This mommy’s gears got turning. I needed to find a project that would keep the kiddos entertained, and turn out beautiful. I think we hit the mark!

You Must Try This Kid Friendly Art Project

Y’all I am super excited to share this super fun art project with you today. It involves paint filled water balloons…what is not to love?!?

The kiddos had an absolute blast doing this, and seeing what color paint would splatter next.

The supplies I used for this project were:

Canvas 16×20 – feel free to use whichever size you prefer

Acrylic Paint in assorted colors

Push Pins

Washi Tape

Water Balloons

Trash bags for ponchos (to keep everyone’s clothes as clean as possible)

You Must Try This Kid Friendly Art Project
Please note: This frazzled mommy grabbed the wrong balloons which are pictured here. I did end up using water balloons for the finished project.

First things first. You will need to decide if you want to create any words on your canvas. We decided to ‘write’ Be You in Washi tape, which I think is absolutely perfect for a play room! 🙂

You Must Try This Kid Friendly Art ProjectNext you will place push pins through the back of your canvas. This helps with making the balloons pop.

I used a lot of push pins because I had a two year old participating in the project. I wasn’t sure how well her aim would be, so I wanted to make sure her balloons popped.

If you have older kids participating you may not need as many pins. But, if in doubt I would definitely add as many as possible.

You Must Try This Kid Friendly Art Project

The next step is to fill your paint filled water balloons. Confession time: I had no free hands to take pics during the process of filling up the balloons, but I will try my absolute best to describe it to you.

You Must Try This Kid Friendly Art Project

Grab yourself one of these handy dandy condiment bottles from the Dollar Store, Target, etc. I would have lost my mind without this thing!

I filled the bottle about a quarter of the way with paint, and added an equal amount of water. Swirl it around a little bit to make sure everything is mixed nicely, and then fill your balloon and tie off.

If you run out of water, add a bit more to the bottle and swirl it around again. Once you reach a much higher concentration of water than paint, add more paint.

I would also probably use Tempura paint next time as it is a bit more liquid, and washable. But hey, I like to live on the edge, so I used acrylic. 😉

Place your paint filled balloons in a safe container where they will not pop!

You Must Try This Kid Friendly Art Project

You will definitely want to make some trash bag ponchos for yourself and the kiddos. This project can get cray cray messy in like 1 second!

If you aren’t sure how to do this here is an easy to follow guide.

Now prop that canvas up outside…preferably in a grassy area, and let those kiddos go to town! P.S. You will probably want to join in the fun too!

You Must Try This Kid Friendly Art Project You Must Try This Kid Friendly Art Project You Must Try This Kid Friendly Art Project

Here is what our finished product looked like after we were all done popping.

You Must Try This Kid Friendly Art Project

Once we finished popping the balloons, I removed all of the push pins, and placed the canvas on a flat surface to dry. Once it has completed drying, remove the wash tape.

While the canvas was drying, the 2 year old decided the painting needed a little something extra. She went crazy hand and finger painting all over it! Such is #MomLife!

Honestly I think it is perfect, finger paint additions and all!

You Must Try This Kid Friendly Art Project

The kiddos had so much fun making this, and they are super proud of what they accomplished!

50 Summer Bucket List Ideas For The Whole Family

I don’t know about you, but I can hardly believe May is over! Cue the music…School’s Out for Summer!

Summer break means fun and excitement, while simultaneously causing dread and anxiety to mothers everywhere! Ahem…you know it does, who are you kidding? 😉

Well, have no fear because I have just the thing to cure what ails you! The Summer Bucket List.

This Summer our family decided to put together a list of all of the things that we would like to see, create, and do over the Summer break.

We gathered our family around, and everyone got to contribute. Even our youngest had suggestions…who may have been a little hard to understand, but I think I got all of her suggestions written down. 🙂

This is such a fun thing to do, because the kiddos answers may surprise you. Our oldest suggested things that weren’t even on my mommy radar.

The Summer Bucket List is great for planning out your day, and also for those times when boredom hits…you can proudly exclaim ‘Let’s look at our Bucket List!’
