Traveling with Kids…and Not Losing Your Mind

Hello my darlings! It’s that time of year again, and for many this means lots of traveling.

If your kiddos are anything like mine…car travel is not the most exciting time. The youngest absolutely HATES to ride in the car. I mean, since Day 1. She screams her little head off, kicks, HATES it!!! It can be extremely trying.

Now, you may not have such an extreme situation, but kids can still become very restless while traveling. With this in mind, I thought I would share a few tips and tricks that I use, which definitely help with travel.

Fine Motor Skills Fun

Hello my darlings! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I know we did.

We had some family come for a visit, and got to celebrate a very untraditional Thanksgiving. I adore almost anything ‘outside of the box’. And, after moving to a brand new city of strangers, a family visit is always happily welcomed. 🙂

Over the course of the weekend, I noticed that our son’s fine motor skills have drastically improved.

We have been struggling with some fine motor skills issues for awhile. After discussing this with my son’s wonderful and amazing teacher, she shared some amazing exercises with me. I am super excited to spread the love, and to share these tips and tricks with you today!

Top 3 Books Your Kids Will Love – Kids Ages 3-7 – #FridayFavorites

I just love a good book, especially a good book for my kiddos! So, I thought I would share my top 3 books that your kids will love.

My kiddos just love these books, and I think you will too!

These books are funny and interactive…which means ZERO boring! 😉

It can be tough as a mommy to get those kiddos actively wanting to read. And, let’s face it, if we wait until the end of the day to read…we are just plain tired!

It is so important to keep those little ears and eyes engaged from beginning to end. So, that is why I wanted to pick some great books that not only will the kids love reading, but YOU will too!

My first book on my favorites list is Let’s Play by Herve Tullet.

Top 3 Books Your Kids Will Love Ages 3-7

I love, love, love this book! Herve Tullet uses an interactive concept in his works Let’s Play, and the NY Times bestsellers Mix It Up, and Press Here. He proves that there doesn’t always have to be an ‘app for that’. These books will keep children entertained, and excited about reading!

My next book on my favorites list is The Book With No Pictures by B.J. Novak. If you happened to watch a little show called The Office, then you may remember the character Ryan, as in Ryan and Kelly. Ryan was played by B.J. Novak, and Kelly was played by Mindy Kaling…whom I adore!

The thing I love most about this book is that Novak proves that you don’t need pictures to excite our kiddo’s minds.

He shows them that words can be just as exciting! And, this book is super funny. Your kids will get a kick out of watching, and hearing you say some pretty crazy things.

We absolutely love this book in our house!

The next book is Ninja Red Riding Hood by Corey Rosen Schwartz. This is the companion book to The Three Ninja Pigs.

In this book the Big Bad Wolf is tired of getting ‘beaten’. Ever since the Three Little Pigs have opened their dojo, it seems everyone in town has the ninja moves.

Surely Little Red Riding Hood, and her little old grandmother will make the perfect prey…or will they?

This book is a fun, and exciting spin on a classic tale. It takes a light hearted look at choosing peace, which is a fantastic life lesson for the little ones! It also hones in on some girl power…which I adore!

You should definitely add all of these books on your To-Do list. Your kids will absolutely love these books, AND you will too! 🙂

Pardon me, while I go make some crazy noises while I read The Book with No Pictures for the 1000th time. P.S. It doesn’t even get boring for ME to read! 😉

Cheesy Sausage and Veggie Casserole

If I am in need of a comforting, quick and easy weeknight meal, this is one of my go to recipes. It is very hearty, and a crowd pleaser for sure. It is also an extremely flexible recipe, which is another HUGE plus. Feel free to mix it up. Don’t like mushrooms? Leave them out. Looking for more of a breakfast dish? Add some scrambled eggs. Like I said…super flexible, and so easy to throw together. It is just one of those dishes that will make your tummy smile. Continue reading “Cheesy Sausage and Veggie Casserole”

Teaching our Kiddos Responsibility

Our oldest child has recently asked for an allowance. Honestly, when he first approached me with this, I was dumb founded. This is mostly because when I refer to him as being the oldest, he is a grand total of 6 years old. I mean, what 6 year old is walking around thinking that they should receive an allowance?

We have always expected certain behaviors and actions from our kiddos, but I truly had not even pondered an actual allowance. So, I brought this new found information to my husband, and we had the great discussion. Because you know, we are #winning at this adult thing! 😉

Slow Cooker Chili

As a super busy mom, I celebrate my slow cooker. I can just throw some ingredients in, and make just about anything. I can walk away from it, let it do it’s thing, and not have to fear burning the house down! Ding, ding, ding…we have a winner!!!

So with Fall officially upon us, I thought I would share my slow cooker chili recipe.
