Let’s face it. Cleaning house is not exactly the most fun thing that you could do with your time.
But, it is one of those necessary tasks that keep your home presentable and sanitized. Alas, it must be done.
But, you are busy. Like overwhelmingly busy. You simply don’t have time to be cleaning all the time. And, I get it!
That is where a simple and effective daily cleaning schedule comes in.
By doing super easy tasks each day, that seriously take like 15 minutes. Your house will pretty much always be clean.
Can I get some praise hands? Or a happy dance? Or both?
So, with that let’s get started on how to create a daily cleaning schedule that works for you, and your busy family.
Why should we clean our house daily?
I know that you are an extremely busy mama. Trust me. I do.
That is why doing a little bit of cleaning everyday actually saves you a ton of time.
Think about it. When you let the dirt and grime and clutter sit there. It piles up. And, then there it is. Just staring at you. Right?
And, if you are anything like me, then that is about the time that you completely lose it, and probably say a few unkind things to your family.
Listen, I don’t blame you. You are overwhelmed, and feel lost on where to begin. And, the mess has become so big it feels unsurmountable. And, again…you are busy!
By creating a simple cleaning schedule to do each day you cut down on your actual time spent cleaning, and also your stress.
I believe every busy mom deserves to cut down on her stress level where she can. Wouldn’t you agree?
And, another reason why having a daily cleaning schedule is awesome. Is because when those unannounced guests stop by, your home is pretty much always clean.
Which means you look like a total bad mama jamma, and have your life together.
Shhhh…no one needs to know that the toddler just lost her mind not even 15 minutes ago. And, that your tween has life all figured out, and you know nothing. 😉
What should you clean everyday?
There are just some areas of our home that genuinely should be cleaned everyday.
Think about the spaces that get a lot of high traffic, and build up grime and fingerprints quickly. And, also those items that must be cleaned daily for your home to exist peacefully.
Some examples of what you should clean everyday are:
- Dishes
This probably goes without saying, but doing dishes everyday is going to make your life so much easier.
I mean, is there anything worse than those dirty dishes just staring at you?
Plus, it is no fun having no cups, plates, or silverware when it is time to eat. Am I right?
- Laundry
I know that this one may meet me with some resistance. But, let me tell you. Once I switched to doing a load of laundry everyday it was a total game changer.
No more massive laundry mountain. And, because it isn’t as much laundry in a load, it actually gets put away too.
Now, I am going to be completely honest with you. I have been known to miss a day in between loads, but it is almost always daily.
On a serious note. Do a load of laundry a day or every other day, and tell me that your life has not changed for the better. Spoiler Alert: It will absolutely a bajillion percent change your life for the better.
- Dining Table Top
If your kids are anything like Jasper and Willow, than they can leave a gigantic mess behind after eating. Like it is crazily messy, and I still struggle with understanding how it is humanly possible to create such a mess. But, I digress.
Simply wipe down the table after eating each night. And boom, you have yourself a clean table top.
- Quick Sweep
If you have hardwood floors, laminate, or tile. Add in a quick sweep to your daily cleaning schedule.
It seriously only takes a few minutes. We aren’t talking getting your floors immaculate. Just a simple sweep.
You may be shocked at how much it improves how clean your house looks, and how much time it saves you when you go into the deep dive of cleaning your floors.
- Countertops
Let’s face it. Countertops can get real dirty really quick.
Be sure to add in wiping down your countertops to your daily cleaning schedule. It only takes a few minutes, and is a great way to keep everything nice and clean and sanitized too.
What chores need to be done daily?
Now that we have walked through why you should clean every day, and what needs to be cleaned every day. Let’s do a quick breakdown of what chores need to be done for your daily cleaning schedule.
You can grab your FREE daily cleaning schedule checklist at the bottom of this post. It is a pretty printable that will breakdown everything you need to get done each day.
This daily cleaning schedule may appear to be a lot of tasks. But, I promise that it really isn’t.
I encourage you to get creative with when, and how you clean.
For instance, I clean my kitchen while I am cooking. And, I wipe down the bathrooms while Willow is taking a bath. See where I am going here?
Make this daily cleaning schedule work for you, not against you. We are all about quick wins around here!
Also, remember to delegate where you can mamas. Life is busy, and other people live in your home too. I know I have to constantly remind myself of this one.

How can I keep my house clean?
I know that we are talking about cleaning your home, but I think it is super important to mention another topic that is really imperative to keeping your house clean.
That is decluttering.
If you want to easily keep your house clean, you really need to declutter your home.
By taking the time to minimize the clutter in your home, you have less stuff to clean. And, you will feel less overwhelmed by all the stuff too.
If you have a cluttered space, think about how many times cleaning really means moving stuff around and stacking it up into a pile. Maybe you can relate?
So with that, I strongly urge you to get your home decluttered, and make your daily cleaning schedule that much easier.

Daily Cleaning Routine Supplies
When creating a daily cleaning schedule and sticking to it. You need good and effective cleaning supplies at your disposal.
One of my biggest tips, is to keep your most used cleaning supplies in the appropriate zones. That way you don’t even have to really think about it.
For instance, obviously you would keep your bathroom cleaning supplies in your bathroom.
But, you can either double up on supplies, and keep them in two bathrooms. In addition, throw in dusting supplies and cleaners in your bathroom zone that is closest to the bedrooms or living room too. (P.S. I totally do this.)
You are too busy to be running around like a crazy person simply trying to find what you need to clean. Right?
So, make life easier, and keep them where you can reach for the cleaning supplies you need in the area that you need them.
Here is a list of my tried and true favorite daily cleaning supplies:
- Multi Surface Cleaner – This is my hands down absolute favorite multi surface cleaner. One, it is a powerhouse. Two, you can use it on just about anything. Three, it smells SO good. Like amazingly good.
- Disinfecting Wipes – Listen, my kids bring in a ton of germs. And, they love to help cook too. So, disinfecting wipes are a must have in our home. Because sickness is not on this busy mama’s schedule.
- Glass and Mirror Cleaner – This glass and mirror cleaner works really well. I never have streaks with this.
- Dusting Spray – This spray works so well with cleaning any wood surfaces. And, it smells good too. 😉
